Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island known as West Island. It is the West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is a large area that extends from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. But this is not true. Brugel was raised on Courtice close to Oshawa located in Ontario. She had a dream to dance but a growth spurt led to her growing beyond the dancers she was with. In an article that was published in The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. Once I outgrew male partners and gave up, I decided to give up. Many former dancers turn into acting. In Brugel's situation, it was the nudge of the drama instructor at her high school that encouraged her to go in that direction. A teacher suggested that she take part in an audition for the annual school play. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the main role of Anne of Green Gables after she had a go at. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received the Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she has appeared in 60 different productions that have screened on large screens as well as smaller screens. Her most notable role was that of Rita (pictured below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the character the character of Rita on The Handmaid's tale, a series that was filmed over ten years ago.
